Abstract:
A manual valve which is used for an automatic transmission mounted on an automobile, and which is designed so as to reduce the axial length thereof. The manual valve is formed by providing a port (R) for a backward movement axially on the same side of ports (D), (3), (2) and (1) for a forward movement and a line pressure port (PL), and providing a spool (5) with a first hydraulic chamber (5a) connecting the line pressure port (PL) with the ports (D....) for a forward movement, a second hydraulic chamber (5b) communicating with the port (R) for a backward movement and line pressure port (PL) or a drain (6), and a drain passage (5c) connecting the ports (D....) with the drain port (6).
