Title:
PLASMA DISPLAY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2012/105192
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
This plasma display is provided with a drive circuit and a plasma display panel having multiple discharge cells. A protective layer of the plasma display panel is provided with a base layer and a metal oxide formed on the base layer. The metal oxide comprises pulverized coarse metal oxide particles, and the metal oxide and coarse metal oxide particles have a photoluminescence peak in the wavelength range of 200nm to 300nm, and the peak of the metal oxide is 60% or greater but less than 100% the intensity of the peak of the coarse metal oxide particles. In an erase period, the drive circuit selectively generates an erase discharge only in the discharge cells in which a write discharge has been generated in the immediately preceding write period. Defining a first voltage as the voltage obtained by subtracting the voltage applied to the data electrode from the low-voltage side voltage of the sustain pulse applied to the scan electrode in a sustain period, defining a second voltage as the voltage obtained by subtracting the voltage applied to the data electrode from the high-voltage side voltage of the sustain pulse applied to the scan electrode in a sustain period, and defining a third voltage as the voltage obtained by subtracting the low-voltage side voltage of the data pulse applied to the data electrode from the low-voltage side voltage of the scan pulse applied to the scan electrode in a write period, the voltage obtained by subtracting the third voltage from the first voltage is greater than or equal to the discharge start voltage when the data electrode is the positive electrode and the scan electrode is the negative electrode. The voltage obtained by subtracting the third voltage from the second voltage does not exceed the sum of the discharge start voltage when the data electrode is the positive electrode and the scan electrode is the negative electrode and the discharge start voltage when the data electrode is the negative electrode and the scan electrode is the positive electrode.
