Abstract:
The present invention realizes a feature for enabling hemostasis using the irradiation of low-temperature plasma in a handpiece capable of performing at least one of incision, ablation, and hemostasis of biological tissue using an action member, said configuration being capable of suppressing heating and energization of the biological tissue during hemostasis using the irradiation of low-temperature plasma. A plasma irradiation device (20, 220, 420, 520, 620) comprises a gas flow paths (22, 222, 522), and an electric field generation unit (30, 230, 530), and is provided to a handpiece. The gas flow path (22, 222, 522) supplies gas from outside the handpiece to the distal end part of the action member. The electric field generation unit (30, 230, 530) comprises a first electrode part, a second electrode part, and a dielectric body. The electric field generation unit (30, 230, 530) is disposed in the gas flow path (22, 222, 522), and causes low-temperature plasma discharge by generating an electric field in the spaces inside the gas flow paths (22, 222, 522), on the basis of the potential difference between the first electrode part and the second electrode part.
