Abstract:

The tread surface side of a center land section (22) and of intermediate land sections (26), the center land section (22) and the inter mediate land sections (26) being defined by four main grooves (14, 16, 18, 20) formed in a tread section (12), is divided in the circumferential direction of the tire only by sipes (S), and as a result, block sections (B) are formed in the circumferential direction of the tire. The acute angle sections (AE) of each of the block sections (B) are all chamfered from the tread surface side. In each of the block sections (B), the chamfer width (La) at an end section of the block section (B) in the width direction of the tire is greater than the chamfer width (Lb) at the center section. The opposite ends of each of the sipes (Se) in an outer intermediate land section (26e) which faces the outside of the vehicle when the tire is mounted on the vehicle open respectively to the main grooves (14, 18). The average angle of the sipes (Se) in the outer intermediate land section (26e) is less than the average angle of the sipes (Sc) in the center land section (22) and the average angle of the sipes (Si) in an inner intermediate land section (26i) which faces the inside of the vehicle when the tire is mounted on the vehicle. The sipes (Sc) in the center land section (22) are in communication with the main groove (16) only on the side of the tire, which faces the inside of the vehicle when the tire is mounted on the vehicle.
