Abstract:
A polarization-maintaining optical fiber (10) of the present invention is provided with: a core (11); a pair of stress-inducing members (12, 12) provided on both sides of the core (11); and cladding (13) enclosing the core (11) and the stress-inducing members (12, 12). The polarization-maintaining optical fiber (10) is used in the wavelength range from 400 to 680 nm. The diameter of the cladding (13) is 125 μm. The diameter of a stress-inducing member (12) is 33 to 37 μm. The interval between the pair of stress-inducing members (12, 12) is 8.6 to 15.4 μm. The relative refractive index difference between the core (11) and the cladding (13) is 0.35% to 0.45%. The cut-off wavelength is no more than 400 nm.
