Abstract:
This polarizing plate has a wire grid structure and comprises: a transparent substrate; a plurality of protrusions periodically arranged on the transparent substrate at a pitch shorter than the wavelength of light in the used waveband, and separated from each other in a first direction; and a protective layer covering the plurality of protrusions and the transparent substrate. Each of the protrusions has a first absorption layer, a reflective layer, and a second absorption layer in order from the side close to the transparent substrate, and the width in the first direction of a first surface of the reflective layer on the side close to the first absorption layer is greater than the width in the first direction of a second surface of the reflective layer opposing the first surface.
