Abstract:
For the purpose of inhibiting the polymerization of vinyl compounds during storage, transportation and production, provided are: a polymerization inhibitor composition for vinyl compounds which does not suffer from the deposition of crystals of an N-oxyl compound even at low temperatures and which exhibits excellent handleability and high polymerization-inhibiting effect; and a method for inhibiting the polymerization of vinyl compounds which includes using the composition. The polymerization inhibitor composition comprises (A) at least one N-oxyl compound represented by general formula (1) or structural formula (2), (B) an aromatic compound that has at least one hydroxyl group on the aromatic ring, and (C) a solvent for the N-oxyl compound. In general formula (1), R5 is a hydrogen atom, hydroxyl, C1-3 alkyl, C1-3 alkoxy, a C1-3 carboxylic acid group, or a C1-3 amido group.
