Abstract:

Provided is a process for producing a polyoxyalkylene polyol that has a low total degree of unsaturation and that has a high terminal-primary-hydroxyl content though the oxyethylene content of the polyoxyalkylene polyol is low. A process for the production of a polyoxyalkylene polyol, which comprises: a first polymerization step of subjecting propylene oxide and/or a propylene oxide/ethylene oxide mixture to ring-opening addition polymerization with an initiator in the presence of a double metal cyanide complex catalyst (a1) to form a first intermediate polyol; a second polymerization step of conducting, after the first polymerization step, ring-opening addition polymerization of propylene oxide in the presence of a polymerization catalyst (a2) that consists of an alkali metal hydroxide and/or an alkali metal alcoholate to form a second intermediate polyol; and a third polymerization step of conducting, after the second polymerization step, ring-opening addition polymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of a polymerization catalyst (a2) to form a polyoxyalkylene polyol (A1).
