Abstract:
A polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer which is achieved by obtaining a polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer intermediate by causing a reaction between a polysiloxane (A) that has a functional group selected from among a carboxylic acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group, an epoxy group, an amino group and a thiol group, and a polyalkylene glycol (B) that has a functional group selected from among a carboxylic acid anhydride group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group, an epoxy group and a thiol group, and by subsequently causing some of carboxyl groups of the polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer intermediate to react with a compound that is reactive with carboxyl groups. This polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is configured such that: the content of a structure derived from the polysiloxane (A) is from 30% by mass to 70% by mass (inclusive) if the total amount of the polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is taken as 100% by mass; the carboxyl group content of the polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is from 0.1 mmol/g to 0.75 mmol/g; and the weight average molecular weight of the polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is from 5,000 to 500,000. In cases where this polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is blended into an epoxy resin, this polysiloxane-polyalkylene glycol block copolymer is well dispersed in the epoxy resin, thereby enabling the reduction of stress of an epoxy resin cured product.
