Abstract:
A population estimation server 10 according to one embodiment comprises a signal acquisition unit 11 for acquiring a position registration signal periodically sent out from a portable terminal 20 possessed by a user, and an estimation unit 12 for aggregating the acquired position registration signals for each area and for each estimation unit period and estimating the population for each area and for each estimation unit period on the basis of the aggregation result. When a missing period occurs in which, after position registration signals from the portable terminal 20 staying in a relevant area are acquired, signals from the portable terminal 20 are no longer acquired, the estimation unit 12 interpolates a pseudo signal associated with the portable terminal 20 in the missing period and aggregates position registration signals, with the position registration signal first sent out from the portable terminal after the missing period being excluded from the aggregated position registration signals.
