Abstract:
Disclosed is a porous material for fuel cell electrolyte membranes, which is characterized by comprising at least one reinforcing layer within a high porosity layer and/or on the surface of the high porosity layer, and thereby having a multilayer structure composed of the high porosity layer and the reinforcing layer. The porous material for fuel cell electrolyte membranes is further characterized in that the average pore size of the pores of the high porosity layer is different from the average pore size of the fine pores of the reinforcing layer. This porous material has high porosity and high strength, and thus is suitable as a base for electrolyte membranes for solid polymer fuel cells. Also disclosed is a high-performance fuel cell using such a porous material.
