Abstract:
A portable electronic device according to one embodiment has a data storage unit and a processing unit. The data storage unit stores data which has been encoded so as to be decodable on the basis of different decoding key information corresponding to a read-out start position. In accordance with a read-out request which is received from an external device and which includes at least offset information indicating a start position for reading out the encoded data stored by the data storage unit and decoding key information corresponding to the offset information, the processing unit decodes, on the basis of the decoding key information, a prescribed length of data, from among the encoded data, starting from the read-out start position indicated by the offset information, and transmits the decoded data to the external device.
