Abstract:
Provided is a position detection device that is capable of detecting the position of a target object with good precision. The position detection device is provided with: a first detection unit and a second detection unit provided at different positions in the radial direction of a non-magnetic metal part that rotates as the target object moves; and a control unit. The first detection unit includes two first detection coils, and the second detection unit includes two second detection coils. The control unit obtains an output voltage V1a from one of the two first detection coils and an output voltage V1b from the other, the output voltage V1b having a prescribed phase difference with respect to the output voltage V1a. The control unit obtains a third output voltage V2a from one of the two second detection coils and an output voltage V2b from the other, the third output voltage V2a having a specific phase difference with respect to the output voltage V1a, and the output voltage V2b having a prescribed phase difference with respect to the third output voltage V2a and having a specific phase difference with respect to the output voltage V1b. The control unit calculates the position of the target object on the basis of the output voltages V1a, V1b and the output voltages V2a, V2b.
