Abstract:
The present invention provides: a positive electrode active material for an alkaline storage battery having excellent overdischarge resistance and high-temperature resistance; and a method for producing the positive electrode active material. The positive electrode active material for an alkaline storage battery has: hydroxide particles containing at least cobalt solid-solutioned in nickel; and a cobalt-containing coating layer coating the hydroxide particles, wherein the cobalt contained in the coating layer and the cobalt contained in the hydroxide particles have diffraction peaks between diffraction angles of 65°-66° represented by 2θ of a diffraction pattern obtained by X-ray diffraction measurement.
