Abstract:
Provided are: a positive electrode active material whereby a lithium ion secondary battery can be obtained that has high discharge capacity and suppressed reduction of discharge capacity caused by repeated charge/discharge cycles; a positive electrode for lithium ion secondary batteries; and a lithium ion secondary battery. The positive electrode active material is indicated by formula aLi (Li1/3Mn2/3)O2·(1-a)LiMO2 (M indicating an element including at least Ni and Mn and 0 < a <1) and is characterized by including lithium-containing complex oxide having an integral width of no more than 1.25 deg, between peaks in a (110) plane that returns to the crystal structure of a C2/m space group, in an X-ray diffraction pattern.
