A positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery according to exemplary embodiments may include: a positive electrode current collector; and a positive electrode active material layer formed on the positive electrode current collector and including lithium excess oxide particles. The electrochemically active surface area of the positive electrode may be 0.5 m2/g to 2.5 m2/g.
