Abstract:
[Problem] To provide: a positive electrode to be used in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery and having a large charge/discharge capacity, and no risk of an internal short circuit; and a battery using the same. [Solution] A positive electrode to be used in a nonaqueous electrolyte battery and having a positive-electrode collector, a positive-electrode-active-material-coated film formed on the collector, a nonuniform region having a changing thickness of the positive-electrode active material formed along the edges of the coated film, and projecting-insulating parts projecting upward in the nonuniform region and in a part of the adjacent collector surface, wherein: the projecting-insulating parts projecting upward from the surface of the nonuniform region are positioned in a low-density arrangement enabling the movement of a battery-reaction material through the surface of the nonuniform region; and the projecting-insulating parts projecting upward from a part of the collector surface are positioned in a high-density arrangement, in comparison to the projecting-insulating parts projecting upward from the surface of the nonuniform region. Also, a nonaqueous electrolyte battery using the same.
