Abstract:
Provided is a high performance and highly reliable power conversion apparatus equipped with an IGBT power module comprising a main IGBT and a current sensing IGBT in the same semiconductor chip, the power conversion apparatus being capable of accurately estimating a main current flowing through the main IGBT using a sense current in all operating regions of the power conversion apparatus. The power conversion apparatus is characterized by comprising a first IGBT for flowing a main current, a second IGBT disposed on the same semiconductor substrate as the first IGBT to flow a sense current, and a measuring apparatus for calculating the main current from the sense current, wherein the measuring apparatus selects a method for calculating the main current in accordance with a current value of the sense current.
