Abstract:
A high-efficiency, low-cost power conversion device for performing DC-DC conversion and an energy storage system including same according to an embodiment of the present invention may be provided, the power conversion device comprising: a series of batteries; and a DC-DC converter having an input connected to an output of the batteries, wherein a positive electrode output of the DC-DC converter is connected to a load, a negative electrode output of the DC-DC converter is connected to a positive electrode terminal of the batteries, and a negative electrode terminal of the batteries is connected to the load such that at least a portion of the power required by the load is supplied directly from the batteries without passing through the DC-DC converter, and thus the voltage level to which the voltage needs to be stepped up by the DC-DC converter is lower and power conversion efficiency is higher as compared to conventional technology in which all of the power required by the load is obtained from the batteries and converted by the DC-DC converter. Therefore, the power conversion device does not require additional configuration for power conversion efficiency, thus reducing the volume of the device and saving costs.
