Abstract:
A power conversion device is equipped with: an energy storage unit (5) for receiving the voltage of a self-power supply device (3) and storing electricity; and a bypass unit driving device (6) for, when the voltage of the self-power supply device (3) becomes less than a preset lower limit value, allowing a bypass unit (4) to perform a short-circuit operation using the power stored in the energy storage unit (5). This makes it possible that, by appropriately setting said voltage lower limit value served as a threshold value of the short-circuit operation, a quick and reliable short-circuit protection operation is achieved even if a cell converter (100a) fails and the power conversion device is always safely continued to operate.
