Abstract:
[Problem] To simplify and improve the reliability of a battery protection circuit in a power supply device constructed by combining a plurality of modules. [Solution] A power supply device, which charges battery packs (20) with power supplied by an external power supply for charging (CP) and is capable of externally outputting the power stored in the battery packs (20), is provided with: abnormal pack output terminals (DA, DO, DI) for sending an abnormal pack signal to another battery pack (20) or a protection unit (2) when an abnormality occurs in a battery pack (20); protection-side input/output terminals (HI) for connecting the protection unit (2) to the abnormal pack output terminals (DA, DO, DI); and a protection circuit that is capable of interrupting the current from a battery pack (20). When an abnormality occurs in a battery pack (20), an abnormal pack signal is sent to the protection-side input/output terminals (HI) of the protection unit (2) from the abnormal pack output terminals (DA, DO, DI) of the battery pack (20), and when the protection unit (2) detects said abnormal pack signal, the protection unit (2) interrupts the current from the protection circuit.
