Abstract:
Provided is a power transmission device capable of holding a state of a second powertrain in a wider engine rotation region and capable of further improving fuel consumption. The power transmission device that is able to optionally transmit or block an engine driving force to the wheels is provided with: a clutch means (3) for enabling switching between a first powertrain for transmitting the engine driving force to the wheels via a torque converter (1) and a second powertrain for transmitting the engine driving force to the wheels by bypassing the torque converter (1); and a damper mechanism (7) disposed in the middle of the second powertrain and configured by a damper having spring characteristics for attenuating torque variation; the power transmission device being further provided with a damper clutch (10) for freely switching the spring characteristics of the damper mechanism (7), and a spring characteristics control means (14) for actuating the damper clutch (10) in response to the traveling state of the vehicle to enable switching to a spring characteristic suited to the traveling state.
