Abstract:
The present invention provides a diagnostic marker and onset risk evaluation method for arteriosclerotic diseases. More specifically, the present invention provides a method for evaluating the onset risk of an arteriosclerotic disease, wherein the C5a protein in a blood sample is adopted as a diagnostic marker for the arteriosclerotic disease, and the method includes a step for measuring, in vitro, the amount of the C5a protein in a blood sample collected from a subject, and a step for evaluating the onset risk of arteriosclerosis or vascular inflammation in the subject by using the amount of the C5a protein as an indicator. This method is useful for evaluating the onset risk of an arteriosclerotic disease at an extremely early stage.
