Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a prepreg, which, in the case of using an automatic lamination device to produce a fiber reinforced composite material having excellent impact resistance, enables lamination without a portion of the reinforcing fibers or matrix resin adhering and building up inside the device. [Solution] This prepreg contains components [A] to [E] below, satisfies conditions (I) to (V) below, and is configured from a first resin composition in which at least 85 mass% of component [E] is present within the range of 9% of the average thickness of said prepreg from the surfaces of the prepreg, and the range within 7% of the average thickness of the prepreg from the surfaces of the prepreg contains components [B] to [E]. [A] Carbon fibers [B] An epoxy resin having two or more glycidyl groups in one molecule [C] An aromatic amine compound [D] A thermoplastic resin having a polyaryl ether skeleton [E] Particles in which the number average particle diameter of the primary particles is 5-50 μm, the content ratio (mass %) of the thermoplastic resin and a thermosetting resin is 95:5-70:30, and cracks caused by immersing in methyl ethyl ketones, and boiling and refluxing 24 hours are less than or equal to 20 μm and no more than five in number Condition (I): Component [B] contains greater than or equal to 80 mass% of an epoxy resin with a viscosity at 25°C of greater than or equal to 2.0×104 mPa*s. Condition (II): The molar ratio of the number of active hydrogens in component [C] to the number of epoxy groups in component [B] is 0.7-1.3. Condition (III): 15-25 mass% of component [D] is contained per 100 mass% of component [B]. Condition (IV): 50-80 mass% of component [E] is contained per 100 mass% of component [B]. Condition [V): The minimum value of the loss coefficient tanδ of a first resin composition in the temperature range 12-25°C is less than or equal to 1.0.
