Abstract:

A printer and a paper jointing method for a paper feeder capable of suppressing misalignment in the vertical direction due to paper joint and realizing an improved printing quality and stable printing. The method uses a printer having a paper feeder (1) for adhering the web (7) fed out of an old reel (10A) to a rotating new reel (10B), and while performing paper jointing from the old reel (10A) to the new reel (10B), continuously feeding the paper. The distance (the tail length L) in the length direction of the overlap between the old reel (10A) and the new reel (10B) for which the paper feeder (1) performs paper jointing is shorter than the shortest distance between drive rollers which the printer has. As the distance between drive rollers is specifically the one between the blanket drums (24) of the printer (3).
