Abstract:
Provided is a printer which has a simple structure and is inexpensive, and with which the precision of printed paper cutting can be improved and the quality of a printed article to be output can be enhanced. A bobbin drive unit generates a driving force that rotates a bobbin around which an ink sheet is wrapped. A thermal head heats the ink sheet, and performs thermal transfer from the ink sheet onto a paper that is fed from a roll paper to produce a printed paper. A fixed blade extends in the width direction of the printed paper. A movable blade is disposed along the fixed blade, and moves in the width direction to cut the printed paper. A movable blade drive unit drives the movable blade. A pressing mechanism comprises a conveyance roller and a pressing roller. The conveyance roller is rotated by the above-mentioned driving force. In the pressing mechanism, the pressing roller presses the printed paper toward the conveyance roller before the movable blade begins to cut the printed paper. The pressing mechanism eliminates any looseness of the printed paper before the movable blade begins to cut the printed paper.
