Abstract:

A printing apparatus according to the present invention uses an inspection unit 17 to scan an inspection chart printed by a printing control unit 25 and acquire inspection image data. A total deviation calculation unit 33 calculates the deviation, including the registration deviation direction, at a recording position as the total deviation, based on a large deviation specified by a large deviation specification unit 28, a deviation direction detected by a deviation direction detection unit 29, a shift amount corresponding to a deviation detection chart specified by a deviation detection chart specification unit 31, and the peak position in the deviation detection chart specified by the deviation detection chart specification unit 31. Thus, it is possible to calculate the total registration deviation by merely printing an inspection chart on continuous paper (WP), making it possible to easily determine the registration deviation in the conveyance direction in a short period of time.
