Abstract:
A technique for carbon nanostructure production based on a new principle is provided with which it is possible to produce carbon nanostructures in an ordinary-temperature inert-gas atmosphere at atmospheric pressure. The process comprises setting a target in a chamber, bombarding the target in an ordinary-temperature inert-gas atmosphere at atmospheric pressure with continuous electron beams emitted from an electron accelerator and thereby melting and gasifying the target, subsequently cooling the gasified target to form a high-temperature gas in which graphite and a catalyst metal coexist, maintaining the high-temperature coexistence gas for a certain period, and then cooling the coexistence gas to thereby yield carbon nanostructures.
