Abstract:
Provided is a process for preparing an isomer mixture rich in 1,1-dichloro-2,2,3,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HCFC-225ca) which is useful as a starting chemical in preparing 1,1-dichloro -2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene (CFO-1214ya), or the like. The process is characterized by subjecting a raw material consisting of dichloropentafluoropropanes (HCFC-225) that contain 2,2-dicloro-1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HCFC-225aa) to gas-phase isomerization at a temperature of 290°C or lower in the presence of a metal oxide catalyst to isomerize HCFC-225aa into HCFC-225ca.
