Abstract:
A process for producing a butene oligomer which is odorless and has excellent oxidative stability. The process, which is for producing a butene oligomer, comprises: polymerizing a butane/butene mixture fraction in the presence of an acid catalyst to yield an oligomer; subsequently fractionating the resultant reaction mixture by distillation to obtain a desired fraction and then hydrogenating it or hydrogenating the reaction mixture and then fractionating the mixture by distillation to obtain a desired fraction; and then deodorizing it. In the process, the water concentration in the oligomer to be deodorized is regulated to 50 ppm or lower.
