Abstract:
This invention provides a process for producing an electronic component, which can suppress an external force-type whisker without diffusion of component atoms constituting a material (70) and a substrate layer (72) into a tin-containing material layer (74), and an electronic component produced by the process. In the production process, the material (70) is subjected to surface treatment. The production process comprises the step of providing the substrate layer (72) on the surface of the material (70) to surface treat the material (70), and the step of providing a tin-containing material layer (74) above the substrate layer (72) to surface treat the substrate layer (72). The production process further comprises the step of, before the provision of the tin-containing material layer (74), providing a barrier intermediate layer (76) for preventing the component atoms constituting the material (70) and the substrate layer (72) from being diffused into the tin-containing material layer (74) to suppress the occurrence of external force-type whiskers upon the application of external force to the surface of the tin-containing material layer (74).
