A process for producing a fluorocopolymer by emulsion polymerization in the presence of a pH regulator, wherein the pH regulator is an ammonia water; and a molded article obtained by melting and molding this copolymer or by molding the copolymer with crosslinking. The fluorocopolymer contained in the aqueous fluorocopolymer dispersion obtained is isolated through coagulation, for which a coagulant comprising a cationic surfactant and a water-soluble organic solvent is preferably used. The surfactant is preferably represented by the formula: (R₄N⁺)X^- (R: represents any of C_1-22 alkyl, fluoroalkyl formed by replacing at least part of the hydrogen atoms of the alkyl with fluorine, and hydrogen; the four R's may be the same or different, provided that not all of these are hydrogen; and X represents halogeno). The process yields a fluorocopolymer in which the concentration of metal elements serving as an impurity source has been reduced to, e.g., 1 ppm or lower.
