Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for producing a 1H,1H,2H-perfluoroalkene or an α,ω-divinylperfluoroalkane by reacting a 1H,1H,2H,2H-perfluoroalkyl halide or an α,ω-bis(2-haloethyl)perfluoroalkane with an alkali metal hydroxide in the presence of at least one alcohol selected from the group consisting of methanol and ethanol, wherein the alkali metal hydroxide is used in an amount of 1.5 to 4 mol per liter of the alcohol. The process enables the production of a fluoroalkene compound having a vinyl group at its terminal, such as a 1H,1H,2H-perfluoroalkene and an α,ω-divinylperfluoroalkane, with high efficiency and at high purity without the need of any complicated post-treatment.
