Abstract:
Disclosed is a process for production of a sulfonic acid ester with high efficiency and in a high yield. The process comprises reacting a compound (a) having a sulfo group (-SO3H) with a compound (b) having a group represented by the general formula [1]: [wherein R1 represents a sulfonyl group represented by the general formula [2]: (wherein R2 represents a halogen atom, a haloalkyl group, an alkoxy group, or an alkyl or aryl group which may have a substituent) or an acyl group represented by the general formula [3]: (wherein R3 represents an alkyl or aryl group which may have a substituent)] in the presence of an organic base which can form a salt with the sulfo group.
