Abstract:
A process and an apparatus (100) for preparing a separator (107) for an electrochemical device are disclosed. The process comprises coating a first side of a porous base membrane (101) with a first coating slurry and coating a second side of the porous base membrane (101) with a second coating slurry to obtain a coated membrane (103) having a wet coating layer; immersing the coated membrane (103) having a wet coating layer in a water bath (130) to obtain a coated membrane (105) having a solvent-reduced coating layer; and drying the coated membrane (105) having a solvent-reduced coating layer.
