Abstract:
The inventive method for processing billets, mainly of large dimensions made of ($g(a)+$g(b)) titanium alloys in order to obtain a homogenous fine-grain structure by deforming billets at temperatures less than temperatures of the total polymorphic transformation, consists of at least two deformations of the billet. In the first deformation, the billet is heated to a temperature equal to or higher than a temperature corresponding to an equal quantitative ratio of phases in the alloy (t¿$g(a)=$g(b)?), at least a part of the deformation being carried out at said temperature. In the second deformation, the billet is heated and deformed at a temperature less than the temperature t¿$g(a)=$g(b)?.
