Abstract:
A processing method and device for magnetic tape, wherein, while magnetic tape is being carried longitudinally, at least one laser beam is applied to the back layer of the magnetic tape at a preset processing position for processing the back layer to thereby form recesses. The method and the device remove processing powdery dust produced by the processing by enclosing a portion in the vicinity of a processing position and evacuating the inside of the enclosed portion, or by sending an ionic wind to a portion in the vicinity of the processing position for charging by dust-collecting electrodes. The device cleans the back layer of the magnetic tape by a cleaning unit on the upstream side of the processing position. The method and the device can positively capture processing powdery dust to prevent the dust from entering the next and the subsequent processes, and can produce with a good production efficiency magnetic tape that is free from slipping despite an increased tape transfer speed in a magnetic production device, is small in cupping, and has excellent characteristics.
