Abstract:
The one embodiment of the present invention is a processor for an electronic endoscope that acquires a captured image of a biological tissue and applies an enhancement process. The processor is provided with: a region detection unit configured to detect an enhancement process target region in the captured image of the biological tissue from information on pixels of the captured image; and an enhancement process unit configured to apply an enhancement process to the enhancement process target region detected by the region detection unit. The region detection unit detects the enhancement process target region on the basis of differences in signal level between a pixel of interest in the captured image and pixels surrounding the pixel of interest. The enhancement process unit applies the enhancement process to the enhancement process target region such that as the difference in signal level is greater, the degree of enhancement is lower, and as the brightness is higher, the degree of enhancement is higher.
