Abstract:
The present invention provides a projection optical device and a head-up display device that are capable of displaying a virtual image at each of a long distance and a short distance, wherein size reduction of the head-up display is achieved. The present invention contributes to "3. Good-Health and Well-Being" of Sustainable Development Goals. The present invention causes a virtual image to be displayed at a long distance and a short distance by refracting and reflecting video light emitted from an image forming unit to project the video light onto a projection surface, and comprises at least a first lens 51, a concave lens 53 as a second lens, and a concave mirror 55, arranged in the stated order from the image forming unit side. A first optical path P1 for displaying a virtual image at a short distance and a second optical path P2 for displaying a virtual image at a long distance are formed between the image forming unit and the concave lens 53. The first lens 51 is disposed only on the first optical path P1 from among the first optical path P1 and the second optical path P2.
