Abstract:
Provided is a projection-type video display apparatus that improves the seam quality of a multi-screen projection. The projection-type video display apparatus comprises a video input unit, a light source, a display element, a projection optical system, and a variable dimming function for changing the amount of light incident on the display element. The projection-type video display apparatus has a plurality of display modes using the variable dimming function, any one of which can be selected from a menu window. Further, the display modes for displaying the video by use of the variable dimming function include: a first display mode in which input video is displayed with the dimming amount changed in response to dimming control information that is input from an external device and that allows the variable dimming function to be controlled frame by frame of the projected video; and a second display mode in which input video is displayed with the dimming amount changed in response to the input video.
