Abstract:
With respect to a projection video display device (projector), provided is a technology that makes it possible to more suitably detect an obstacle and allows a user to address a problem associated therewith, and can improve usability of the device. A projector (1) is provided with: a light source; a display element that transmits or reflects light from the light source; a projection optical system that projects light from the display element onto a display surface to thus display a video; an obstacle sensor (120) that detects an obstacle in the vicinity of an emission unit (projection lens (3)) in the projection optical system; and a control unit that controls the display of the video. The obstacle sensor (120) includes an infrared sensor (10) and a far-infrared sensor (20). The control unit determines whether or not an obstacle is detected on the basis of the detection result of the infrared sensor (10) and the detection result of the far-infrared sensor (20).
