Abstract:
Provided is a projector image displaying device with improved fluorescent material life that does not lead to reduced light efficiency or increased device size when using a light source that causes a fluorescent material to emit light by an excitation light. The projector image displaying device comprises a light source device, an image displaying element, an illumination optical system having a plurality of optical elements that illuminate light from the light source device onto the image displaying element, and a projector lens that magnifies and projects an optical image formed by the image displaying element. The light source device has a solid-state light emitting unit that emits excited light, a rotationally controllable disk-shaped substrate at least partially coated with fluorescent material, and a light focusing means for focusing the exited light from the solid-state light emitting unit to a plurality of regions on the disk-shaped substrate, and is configured such that the fluorescent material that passes through one excited light irradiation region does not pass through adjoining excited light irradiation regions.
