Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide a protection element in which the amount of flux that is applied on the top of a fusible conductor is made uniform and in which variability of fusing characteristics has been improved. This protection element (10) is provided with the following: an insulation substrate (11), a heating element (14) layered on the insulation substrate (11) and covered with an insulating member (15), electrodes (12 (A1), 12 (A2)) formed on both ends of the insulation substrate (11), a heating element internal electrode (16) that is layered on top of the insulating member (15) so as to be superimposed over the heating element (14), and a fusible conductor (13), both ends of which are connected to the electrodes (12 (A1), 12 (A2)) and the center of which is connected to the heating element internal electrode (16). Heating element electrodes (18 (P1), 18 (P2)), to which a power source is connected for supplying current to and heating the heating element (14), are connected to both ends of the heating element. A concave section (2) that opens upwards is formed in the fusible conductor (13) in a position that overlies the heating element (14).
