Abstract:
This invention comprises: a light reception element array 12 in which unit light reception elements (12A, 12C-12K) of a unit size are arranged in a two-dimensional plane shape; a scintillator array 30 that comprises a plurality of scintillator elements (36) that are optically connected to the light reception element array 12 and has scintillator units 38, 38A-38H each disposed so as to straddle two unit light reception elements and each having a pair of two unit scintillators 36 that each have an incidence-surface cross-sectional size with 1/4 the surface area of a unit light reception element, are optically connected at least at portions of the incidence surface sides thereof, and are separated by a reflective material 34 at the other portions; and a position evaluation unit 40 that obtains a two-dimensional radiation detection position by specifying a scintillator unit according to the presence of reception signals from each unit light reception element and specifying one unit scintillator in the scintillator unit on the basis of the reception signal strengths where there are reception signals. As a result, the spatial resolution of a digital detector is doubled without significant cost.
