A rail apparatus (100) and an inspection method. The rail apparatus (100) comprises a body (110) and at least one group of measurement devices (120), wherein the body (110) is configured to be erected between two guide rails (201, 202) of a rail (200) and move along the rail (200); each group of measurement devices (120) includes two measurement devices (120), and the two measurement devices (120) are respectively located on two side regions of the body (110); each measurement device (120) comprises a displacement sensor (121) and a rolling member (122); the displacement sensor (121) comprises a housing (1211) and a rebound shaft (1212), the housing (1211) being fixedly connected to the body (110), and the rebound shaft (1212) being configured to extend and retract relative to the housing (1211) in a direction perpendicular to the traveling direction of the body (110); the rolling members (122) are configured to come into contact with the guide rails (201, 202) under the thrust of the rebound shafts (1212) and roll relative to the guide rails (201, 202) during a moving process of the body (110); and the rolling members (122) of the two measurement devices (120) are respectively configured to come into contact with the two guide rails (201, 202), and the displacement sensors (121) of the two measuring devices (120) are configured to measure the amount of compression of the respective rebound shafts (1212) so as to determine the relative positions of the body (110) and the two guide rails (201, 202) and the rail distance between the two guide rails (201, 202).
