Abstract:
This invention provides a rechargeable battery with a nonaqueous electrolyte, comprising a negative electrode (10) provided with an active material layer (12) containing active material particles (12a) formed of a silicon material. The specific resistance of the negative electrode (10) is 20 to 900 mΩ•cm as measured after the repetition of charge/discharge of the rechargeable battery in not less than 50% of the battery capacity at least five times. The active material particles (12a) are preferably formed of metallic silicon specified in JIS G 2312. Further, preferably, a coating of a metal material (13) has been formed by electrolytic plating using a copper pyrophosphate bath.
