Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing a rectangular secondary battery in which heat generation at a collector plate is suppressed. A rectangular secondary battery (100) according to the present invention, which solves the above-described problem, comprises a flat wound group (3) that is obtained by winding a positive electrode (34) having a positive electrode metal foil exposure part (34b), a battery can (1) in which the wound group is contained, a battery cover (6) that seals the battery can, a positive electrode external terminal (14) that is provided on the battery cover, and a positive electride collector plate (44) that electrically connects the external terminal and the wound group. The positive electride collector plate (44) comprises a fixation part (44a) that is affixed to the battery cover, a welding part (44c) that is welded to the metal foil exposure part of the wound group, and a connection part (44b) that connects the fixation part and the welding part with each other. In addition, the collector plate (44) has a width portion where the connection part is not wider than the fixation part and the welding part and a thickness portion where the connection part is thicker than the fixation part or the welding part.
