Abstract:
Provided is a battery which avoids the risk of a short circuit between a collector projection of a positive electrode and a collector projection of a negative electrode without inhibiting discharge of a gas, and which is capable of immediately discharging a generated gas from a gas discharge valve, thereby enabling quick lowering of the internal pressure within the battery. A rectangular secondary battery 100 according to the present invention is characterized by comprising: a gas discharge valve 10 which is provided on a battery cover 6; a positive electrode collector plate 44 and a negative electrode collector plate 24, which are arranged on the back surface of the battery cover 6 so as to be separated from each other, with the gas discharge valve 10 being interposed therebetween, and which are respectively bonded to a collector projection 34c of a positive electrode and a collector projection 32c of a negative electrode; and a partition wall plate 7a which is arranged between the gas discharge valve 10 and at least one of the collector projection 34c of the positive electrode and the collector projection 32c of the negative electrode. According to the present invention, the risk of a short circuit between the collector projection 34c of the positive electrode and the collector projection 32c of the negative electrode is able to be reduced without inhibiting discharge of a gas.
