Abstract:

Provided is a refrigerant compressor including an electric element, and a compression element driven by the electric element and compressing a refrigerant, wherein at least one of sliding members constituting the compression element is made of an iron-based material as a base material (185). A wear-resistant coating (180) including at least a surface layer composed of microcrystals is formed on the sliding surface of the sliding member. A portion A in which the component present in the largest amount is ferric oxide (Fe2O3 is included in the surface layer (181), and the portion A is present within a range of at least 0.3 μm or less from the outermost surface of the sliding surface. The wear-resistant coating (180) may include at least one intermediate layer (182 to 184) between the surface layer (181) and the base material (185). As a result, the wear resistance of the sliding member itself can be improved, so that a refrigerant compressor with excellent reliability and efficiency can be obtained.
