Abstract:
Provided is a resin modifier which comprises an ethylene/vinyl ester/vinyl alcohol copolymer and an ethylene-based polymer and which can modify the mechanical properties, e.g., impact resistance, of thermoplastic resins such as ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers, polyamides, and polyesters without adversely affecting the transparency of the thermoplastic resins. The resin modifier is characterized by comprising 5-99 parts by weight of an ethylene/vinyl ester/vinyl alcohol copolymer (A) satisfying at least the following requirement (1) and 1-95 parts by weight of an ethylene-based polymer (B) satisfying the following requirement (2) (the sum of (A) and (B) being 100 parts by weight). Requirement (1): An ethylene content of 60-95 mol%, a vinyl ester content of 0.5-39.5 mol%, and a vinyl alcohol content of 0.5-39.5 mol% (the sum of the ethylene content, vinyl ester content, and vinyl alcohol content being 100 mol%). Requirement (2): A density, as determined by a density-gradient tube method in accordance with JIS K6922-1, of 930-960 kg/m3.
